I forgot to fill the tank for the steam wand. Ruined the heating element. Johnny is the best.
The Maximatic is also the best.

I decided to replace my original heating element rather than repair it because it was causing the electrodes to heat up and melt the terminal covers even at the switch and there was degradation of the insulating material around the electrodes where they entered the base plate. This replacement element is very nice and the attached base plate is very beefy. As previous customers have commented, because the coil runs in a different direction than my original 1989 machine, I rotated the siphon tube clockwise, using a wrench, so that the end of the tube now sits midway between the heating coil and the sidewall of the boiler. I also was unsure if I should use the old washers on the bolts as it was in the original installation. I decided to use the washers. The teflon gasket is also a very nice upgrade to the original rubber gasket. I am hoping that it will last longer than the black rubber which degrades significantly after 10 years.
